Skull and Shackles
The Journal of Ezikial Hands, Journeyman Gunner Part Twenty-Two
We did continue to explore the cavers, Sandara’s spell making it easier on us, to a cavern filled with the spawn of locathah. I heard some noises as of a being in pain, and when mentioned to him, the Captain bade us investigate. This led us to a locathah female without legs that had been chained to the wall. Chopper freed her and, with very rudimentary communication, made her to understand that we would not harm her. She gathered her young and left.
Following the cavern further, through a feeding chamber of some sort and into an area more like a common room. A bloated Sahuagin, with an odd crab-like creature awaited us there. A trio of hammerhead sharks were added and the fight began. It ended almost as quickly as it began with the Reiko, Feruzi, Chopper and myself dispatching everything except one of the sharks, which fled. We discovered the egg-chamber of the bloated Sahuagin and opened it up to be consumed by the sea’s predators.
Another room proved to be a barracks of some sort and a somewhat hidden crack contained another sample of Deep Platinum. The final hallway led to a sort of throne room and a Sahuagin with four arms seated upon an ancient throne. It claimed that we had killed its son and attacked. A short while later it would have regretted its actions, if it had still retained its life. Two chests were hidden in a chamber below the throne, one a trap and the other treasure.
The treasure was of great value and the treasure chest even more so as it was larger on the inside and also, magically, made the ship’s hold larger. Thus it was that we found and captured Wolfe’s treasure and scored enough plunder and fame for us to meet the Pirate King and, with good fortune, be named Free Captains ourselves.
We then set off for the Ushinawa Isles, for Reiko’s sake.
