With information thusly gathered, we were somewhat conflicted upon which path to follow. Following some discussion on the unlikelihood of sunken ships resurfacing by themselves, we decided to search after the Wreckers and to see if we could recover the Golden Vespal. We did, therefore set a course from Bag Island towards the shoals that Vakarla was likely to use to wreck ships.

Once we had arrived in the vicinity, we did spot a ship and after, again, much discussion, we decided to pursue so as to not lose our possible quarry or the item we truly sought. Having loaded up and made ready for combat, we set out after them, but were soon confounded by illusion and ran lightly aground on the shoals.

As soon as we had come to a stop, we were boarded and, furthermore, assaulted by wizardry, the latter being cast by Vakarla, the half-orc wizard we had been warned of. Both Feruzi and I set to dispel her illusionary defenses, while Captain Chopper and Reiko made serious work upon the boarders.

Vakarla cast some serious sort of magic on Chopper and he fell, eliciting a startled oath from me, and a call for Sister Sandara. When this happened, I spotted an opening and cut loose with a ballista and scored a hit, but not a major one. The wizard then cast a fire spell on our deck. In her haste to cover Chopper, Feruzi was laid out on the planking, and I was compleed to leve off my assault on the wizard Vakarla and join the melee to secure our Captain. Seeing us rally after Sandara’s healing, the boarders fled and their wizard, also seriously injured by now, fled with them.

After we had recovered somewhat, we were able to locate their base of operations and recover some of the stolen good, amongst them the figurine we sought and some alchemical supplied that I thought I might make use of.

We did then return to Quent to restore the Golden Vespal to the Dindream and claim our prize: whatever information she had on the Chelish spy. As a bonus to us, she also granted us some clue as to where to look for the Brine Banshee.
