When we had arrived in Port Peril to search out the Jasperleaf Apothecary, and perhaps its secrets, we discussed the manner of entrance amongst ourselves. Happenstance provided that the Bonaventure made port about this time and we chose to hear from Pegsworthy before we made any other plans.

Pegsworthy’s tale was quickly told, although not quickly accomplished: A battle with an Aboleth in the Brine Banshee, and several other interesting fauna, for the secret that the helm was enchanted. This secret bought him the name of the apothecary and a password different than our own.

When then departed after dusk to the manor that was home to the Jasperleaf Apothecary, to try out our password.

The password elicited no response and Feruzi made to try the second floor shutters with the help of an axe. Having made an entry, Feruzi moved inside without tossing down a rope or calling out to us in any way.

With no other way in, Reiko chose to open a ground floor window. Snadara provided us a light and we made our way inside. The first room was the shop proper and whilst we were serching it out, we heard the unmistakable sounds of fighting on the floor above us.

Reiko let loose an oath and moved in great haste to the back of the room and through a doorway into a hall. I followed rapidly, and seeing that she had come upon a locked door, pulled my pistol and blasted out the lock. Taking exception to the gunpowder explosion, Reiko did strike me, but seeing as how my blood was already singing in anticipation of battle, I made a witful reply and carried on to the other side of the door, where Reiko had already engaged two sentries at the foot of the stairs.

With quick shots following Reiko’s quick slashes, we ended the sentries in mere moments, only to have more guards burst forth from a room behind me. Feruzi joined us from the top of the stairs, peppering the guards with arrows, and Captain Chopper engaged them from the hallway. Seeing them bottlenecked, I made ready two of the new grenades that I had crafted and threw them, one after the other, into the room behind the guards, causing them both to explode and rattle the very foundations of the house and ending the last of the guards within.

- There follows several pages of sketches and notes about double and triple sized grenades, along with catapult-sized bombs and a “floating barrel” bombs –

Having no further opponents, we made to search the lower levels of the house while Feruzi told of us her fight with a cat-creature on the floor above.

There was nothing of note on the first floor, save a stairwell down that was choked with rubble.
